Natureza e áreas verdes

The Black Forest is a region of unspoilt countryside with colour and texture that can be enjoyed at any time of year. The apothecary's garden has a cure for all ills. The North/Central Black Forest nature reserve covering an area of 3,600km² is the largest in Germany. The Black Forest Valleys Route presents life in the country at its best.

Apothecary's garden
The apothecary's garden is the newest attraction in Bad Liebenzell. It covers about 1,200m² where more than a hundred different native medicinal plants and herbs grow and flourish. As you stroll through the garden you see rarities such as the Californian poppy and the gingko tree but also common plants like dandelions and narrowleaf plantains. The plants are laid out in the beds according to the eleven types of ailments they can be used to treat, ranging from sleep disorders to heart disease, coughs and skin complaints to digestive problems.

North/Central Black Forest nature reserve
The North/Central Black Forest nature reserve is known for the remarkable beauty and diversity of its scenery. Typical Black Forest countryside is composed of deeply carved valleys, steep crags and babbling brooks interspersed with colourful meadows and lush pastureland. The landscape alternates between untouched natural scenery and land shaped by agriculture. Well-marked walking and cycling trails criss-cross the nature reserve, taking in places of interest along the way.

Black Forest Valleys Route
This scenic route winds its way through the wild, romantic Murg and Kinzig valleys, passing hills and woods, meadows and rivers. The route starts at the former fortified town of Rastatt with its acclaimed palace, the only remaining baroque palace on the Upper Rhine. It continues to "Favorite" palace, the summer residence of Margravine Sybilla and leads to plenty more places of interest along the way.
