A green oasis amid the conurbation of Duisburg, Dinslaken and Oberhausen, Mattlerbusch Park has 45 hectares of open space with an extensive network of paths and tracks. The majority of the animals here are native to Germany: racoons, Roe deer, peacocks and wolves and less exotic species including pigs, donkeys, ponies and hens. Many of the animals are friendly - some even allow you to stroke them. It's worth making time to drop into the Ludwig Gallery with its special exhibitions and to visit the restaurant, the café or the beer garden.
