Natureza e áreas verdes

The Solling region is known for its wide expanses of forest, gently rolling meadow valleys, clear streams and unspoilt moors. The Vogler region, on the other hand, is a wild upland region with narrow ridges, steep slopes and deep valleys. Both sandstone massifs are dominated by extensive beech forests. This is a real paradise for cyclists and mountain bikers. There are also a number of circular footpaths leading through the charming countryside.
Not only is the Harz a very ancient mountain range; it is also the highest in Germany north of the River Main, the tallest peak being Mount Brocken (1,142 metres). This magnificent landscape offers a combination of wide plateaus 600 metres and more in altitude, a central highland region whose rocky peaks form bizarre shapes, mountain lakes, high moorland, deep valleys like ravines with mountain streams, waterfalls and large reservoirs. The best way to explore the Harz is on foot. However, the region is also a paradise for mountain bikers and water sports enthusiasts. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery with a nostalgic ride on the Harz narrow-gauge railway.
