Every year, the Rheingau Wine Festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors for four days of culinary highlights in Limburg's old town. Wine connoisseurs can sample almost 300 different sorts of riesling, pinot noir, weissherbst and sekt. There's also a tempting range of food on offer, including Alsace Flammkuchen ("pizza" with onions, bacon and cream), sausages, meat and fish. Cups, plates, vases, skilfully crafted jewellery, exclusive bags and clothing, practical items and beautiful ornaments made of ceramic, stoneware, wood and glass, hand-painted or modelled from clay. At the arts and crafts market there is simply no limit to the imagination. The market is held every year by the art museum in Limburg with craftspeople selling their products at more than 70 stalls. Visitors can watch the craftspeople at work, talk shop with them, or simply stroll around the market and soak up the atmosphere.
