Neustadt an der Waldnaab is known for being a former residence of the aristocratic Lobkowitz family and also for its history as a glassblowing town. The Old Palace is thought to date back to the 16th century. Today, it stands in a prominent position at the upper end of Stadtplatz square. This former aristocratic residence has been authentically and successfully restored to its former glory. A tour of the palace's foyers and passageways is well worthwhile, as is a glimpse inside the former prison, which the building once housed alongside a guesthouse.New Palace
After settling in Neustadt in the 17th century, the aristocratic Lobkowitz family decided to build themselves a contemporary residence. A site right next to the Old Palace was chosen and construction began on the New Palace in 1684. The second floor is particularly impressive. The family's display rooms situated here are decorated with stucco and ceiling frescoes. The most magnificent feature of Lobkowitz Palace, however, is the richly decorated chapel.Old Bavarian Crystal Glassworks demonstration workshop
At the Old Bavarian Crystal Glassworks, visitors can watch glass being made using traditional methods. Each step - from blowing the glass and creating the design to cutting and polishing - is clearly demonstrated. Visitor highlights include the mighty furnace in the demonstration glass workshop.
