The Nivea Surf World Cup is one of the largest water sports events in the world. Around 100 windsurfers from over 20 countries ride the waves off the Westerland coast. Every year for two months in the summer the Meerkabarett is the centre of attention. At Westerland/Sylt airport you can see the crème de la crème of Germany's stand-up comedians in the marquee of the "Fliegende Bauten" comedy theatre.
