Sylt's attractions are mainly shaped by maritime and historical traditions. St. Severin's Church for instance, is one of the oldest churches on the North Frisian Islands. St. Severin's Church is situated in the east of the island, just north of Keitum itself. It originates from the first half of the 13th century which makes it one of the oldest churches on the North Frisian islands. Kampen is on the west coast of Sylt, and is also home to the highest viewpoint on the island – the Uwe Düne sand dune. 115 steps provide an easy path to the summit, which is 52.5m above sea level, and the effort is rewarded with a fabulous panoramic view over the entire island. With good weather you can even see as far as the islands of Amrum and Föhr.Hörnum lighthouse
Hörnum lighthouse is 17m high and stands at the southernmost point of the island on a sand dune around 30m high. A spiral staircase leads visitors to an outside walkway where they can enjoy a breathtaking view of Sylt and as far as the islands of Amrum and Föhr. Tours offer insights into the history of the lighthouse built in 1907.
