Natureza e áreas verdes
In Ulm there are plenty of places offering relaxation close to nature - the zoo, the apothecary garden and the botanical garden, for example. Animal lovers can visit Ulm zoo. The apothecary garden and the botanical garden both have teaching institutes, so visits there are informative and instructive as well as enjoyable. Ulm zoo
Ulm zoo is in the heart of Friedrichsau Park in the north-east of Ulm. There is also an aquarium and a tropical house. Visitors can look forward to seeing a variety of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, insects and mammals in 95 different enclosures. The bear enclosure with outdoor viewing terrace is one of the most popular attractions, and the petting zoo is a firm favourite with younger visitors. Apothecary garden
The apothecary garden is one of Ulm's most delightful green spaces. It is close to the medieval fishermen's quarter and has a comprehensive collection of medicinal herbs (540 plant species). There is also a tactile garden for blind and partially sighted people. Botanical garden
The botanical garden was founded in the early 1980s as part of Ulm University. It covers around 28 hectares and lies to the south-east of the university. Its primary role is to support the university's teaching and research, but it is also engaged in the preservation of endangered plant species and offers visitors a pleasant place to relax.
