Discover whales and the world of the Watt (the fascinating coastal mudflats) at the Multimar Wattforum, the largest information and education centre in the Schleswig-Holstein Wattenmeer National Park. The historical grocery shop in Tetenbüll has a beautifully restored interior and is believed to be Schleswig-Holstein's oldest rural shop preserved in its original location. Visitors to St. Peter-Ording can learn about the development of amber, the "gold of the north", and the ways in which it is worked.

Multimar Wattforum National Park Centre
Science is fun at the Multimar Wattforum, which presents the exciting world of the Watt mudflats and the tide-governed habitats of the Schleswig-Holstein Wattenmeer National Park. Visitors of all ages can explore the world of the mudflats at their own pace and discover some fascinating facts. A variety of aquariums, large and small, provide close-up encounters with creatures that live in the local coastal waters, such as flounder, plaice, dogfish, lobsters and stone crabs.

Amber Museum, St. Peter-Ording
The North Sea Amber Museum has an impressive and often surprising exhibition about the "gold of the north". The exhibits were collected over a period of more than 50 years. The science section traces the evolution of the amber forest right up to the deposits now found throughout northern central Europe. The selection of exhibits in the cultural history section shows how amber has been worked from the Stone Age to the present day.

Haus Peters, Tetenbüll
Haus Peters, the home of the Peters family, was built around 1760. It is an important cultural monument. Between around 1850 and 1955, it was the residential part of a Haubarg farmhouse. It includes a historical grocery shop dating from 1820 whose original, Biedermeier interior has been preserved. The kitchen and living quarters are also extensively furnished with Gründerzeit furniture that belonged to the former owners. Visitors here have a rare opportunity to experience life and work in the village and the countryside from which the shop drew its clientele.
