Exposições permanentes

Augsburg Brecht exhibition, Copyright Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH
Permanent exhibitions offer interesting insights into the city's history and other specific themes. The Walter Art Museum, for example, focuses on the works of the post-war artists while Brecht House is the place to go to find out about the life and works of the great Bertolt Brecht.

Walter Art Museum in the "Glaspalast" industrial monument
The Glaspalast (glass palace) is a textile factory built in 1905 - an industrial monument from the time when Augsburg was also known as "Germany's Manchester". With more than a thousand works, the Walter Collection is both vast and varied and offers a highly individual guide to contemporary art. As well as a large collection of Egidio Constantini pieces, the museum has works by Georg Baselitz, Max Ernst, Markus Lüpertz, R. Penk, Sigmar Polke, Arnulf Reiner and many others. It also has one of the world's best collections of surrealist paintings by Augsburg artist Wolfgang Lettl.

Swabian Museum of Crafts and Trades
The Brunnenmeisterhaus is reached via the inner colonnade of the Holy Ghost Hospital near the Rotes Tor (Red Gate). Inside is the Museum of Crafts and Trades with exhibits of Swabian crafts and trades practised over the ages.

Brecht House
This is where Bertolt Brecht came into the world in 1898. He would later become famous all over the world for his poetry, his stories and his plays, including "Threepenny Opera" and "Mother Courage". The building now houses an exhibition of the life and works of this acclaimed writer.
