Permanent exhibitions provide fascinating insights into the municipal history of Wiesbaden and into special topics. Visitors can learn about natural phenomena in a fun way at Freudenberg Palace. "Experiences to develop the senses and thinking" is the theme of a permanent exhibition with over 60 interactive stations informing visitors about natural phenomena in an entertaining way, including balance, gravity, light and darkness, sound and resonance. Whether they inhabit the rainforests, the cool and warm steppes or the arctic, this exhibitions shows how animals are specially adapted to their surroundings. In a 1920s-style setting, the exhibition gives an overview of the general geology of Europe, mineralogy and important fossils from each geological era. Visitors get to see numerous crystalline minerals and ores found in sites in the Duchy of Nassau which are now exhausted. Unusual items of historical and geological interest from the Mainz Basin and the Taunus hills are also on display.
