The diocese of Würzburg exhibits modern and contemporary works of art and also art from the 11th to the 18th century in this four-storey museum. Works by Joseph Beuys, Otto Dix, Ben Willikens and Käthe Kollwitz form the nucleus of the permanent exhibition and the Romanesque, Gothic and baroque periods are represented by masterpieces by Johann Zick, Georg Anton Urlaub and Tilman Riemenschneider.
